FRANKIE DETTORI once again proved to be the star of the show when the legendary jockey won the two big races on the card at Kincsem Park in Budapest on Saturday, both for British trainers.
SPLENDENT, a winner of a Newbury handicap in June for trainers Paul and Oliver Cole landed the big race of the day, the Group 1 Kincsem Dij. Settled in second behind locally-trained Agreement under Bulgarian-born Stanislav Georgiev, Splendent and Dettori made their move entering the home straight in 2400 metre contest, worth 22,000,000 HUF (approx. 57,650 EUR), and came home 3½ lengths clear of Agreement, with Tides of War, who also made the journey from England to Hungary for trainer David Simcock, third under top lady rider Rebeka Gonczi.
Dettori also tasted success in the Group 2 Imperial Dij aboard the Ian Williams-trained SILENT FILM. Formerly trained by Charlie Appleby for the Sheikh Mohammed-led Godolphin operation, Silent Film led home an English-trained 1-2, with the Andrew Balding trained Sceptic, who like all the English runners carried the colours of owner Fitri Hay, four lengths back in second.
